2026 NCAA Women’s Hockey National Champion - Rhyah Stewart

The Novas organization would like to extend a huge congratulations to former goaltender Rhyah Stewart on capturing the 2026 NCAA Women’s Hockey National Championship with the Wisconsin Badgers!

Rhyah was a cornerstone of our program during the 2020–2021 season, and even then it was clear she had the drive, composure, and compete level to reach the very top of the game. To see her now standing as a national champion in her freshman season is nothing short of incredible.

From Antigonish to the NCAA’s biggest stage — this is a testament to her work ethic, resilience, and passion for the game.

We are extremely proud to have been a part of her journey and can’t wait to see what comes next.

Congratulations, Rhyah — once a Nova, always a Nova!

NSU15 Major Player of the Month for February- The Gulls- Grayson Sears

Grayson is in his second season at the U15 Major level following a very successful rookie campaign that saw him named to the Rookie All-Star Team. Since joining the GULLS, he has brought an impressive skill set, high-end offensive ability, and exceptional hockey IQ, making an immediate impact on the team. This season, he was named an assistant captain of the GULLS.

In February, Grayson led the GULLS to seven regular-season wins, recording nine goals and fourteen assists over eight games. His contributions played a key role in helping the GULLS capture the league championship, along with back-to-back Ice Jam championships. His efforts both on and off the ice have been instrumental in the team’s success this season.

Beyond his on-ice performance, Grayson’s positive attitude and leadership presence set him apart. He has an ability to connect with young players in the community who regularly attend GULLS home games, serving as a strong role model and ambassador for the program. His commitment to representing the team with character and professionalism reflects the culture that the GULLS organization strive to uphold.

Over the past two seasons, Grayson’s contributions have been outstanding. His work ethic, compete level, determination, skill, leadership qualities, and community involvement have made him an invaluable player on the GULLS roster.

The Novas support The Coldest Night of the Year

This weekend, The Novas are proud to support The Coldest Night of the Year.

This national initiative raises funds and awareness for people in our communities experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

As coaches and leaders, we believe in teaching our players that being part of a team means showing up — not just on the ice, but in our community as well.

Our Novas fundraising team is raising funds in support of this important cause. If you’re able, we’d truly appreciate your support. Every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support both our team and our community.

Western Hurricanes support Special Olympics with weekend fundraiser

The Hurricanes raised the funds during two home games, the weekend of January 17th and 18th. Throughout the weekend, athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families were invited as guests of the Hurricanes to enjoy some great U15 Major hockey action and receive well deserved recognition for their dedication and achievements.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the Hurricanes program to celebrate the athletes and support such an important organization in our community.
